For best results, combine with a slug collar, or a Slugstand, other options are wool tape — copper works harder as part of a layered defence. And we using it with what we call a “primary barrier” not in isolation.
Keep slugs and snails off your plants — without chemicals. This wide 50mm copper tape has a natural repellent effect, helping reduce slug damage to pots, raised beds and borders.

I am the happiest gardener in Scotland. Not a single leaf has been chewed since. These incredible, eco-friendly slugstands are well made and easy to install.
Magnificent product, 100% effective. I would highly recommend the slug repellent plant stands. Absolutely no more slugs eating my plants.
It was wonderful to find a way to protect my daffodils without harming the slugs or any of the other garden animals or insects. Gardening in harmony with nature.
Fast and efficient service. So far, very effective. Hosta leaves showing no sign of slug damage! Would recommend.
These specially designed feet have enabled me to easily establish shelves of happy dahlias that the slugs can only look at and dream!
Why 50mm Width Makes the Difference Narrow copper tape is easier to cross than wider tape — many copper tapes are sold at 20mm and 25mm, less than half the width of ours. At 50mm, this tape creates a barrier wide enough that slugs and snails cannot easily stretch across it, and experiments show it has a meaningful repellent effect.
Advantages of Copper Tape One roll protects many plants, making it relatively inexpensive per plant. It also combines well with more robust barriers — Slugstands, slug fences, slug collars and wool repellent tape.
How It Works When slugs or snails try to cross the tape, their slime reacts with the copper, creating an unpleasant sensation that turns them back — no harm done, just redirected.
What’s Included One roll: 10 metres long × 50mm wide, with self-adhesive backing.
Where to Use It
- Raised beds and vegetable patches
- Flower pots and containers
- Greenhouse staging and benches
- Garden borders and tree guards
Tips for Best Results Apply to a clean, dry surface — preferably on a Slugstand or slug collar. Make sure the tape forms a complete, unbroken ring; any gap is an invitation. Trim any overhanging branches or leaves that could act as a bridge for slugs to bypass the barrier.
Safe for People, Pets & Wildlife No pellets, no poisons. This chemical-free solution does not harm the environment or other wildlife in the area.
Posted on Nick25 January 2025 I recently tried StopSugs new product, the slug stand, and it’s genuinely brilliant. It forms a simple water moat around your plant pot, keeping slugs out and your plants safe. Setup couldn’t be easier—just fill with water... The plastic build is tough, lightweight, and ideal for everyday gardening, especially if you like rearranging your pots often. While I’d love to see other materials in the future to match my terracotta, this design is impressively practical and effective. This proof of concept enables the best growing Hostas of the season by a long way, as shown in the photos of my poor Hostas who were not given such a slug stand! Best of all, Laurence is open to ideas and already planning new products for next season. If you’re tired of slugs wrecking your plants, give this stand a try. 10/10Posted on David Haigh24 January 2025 Very please with my slugstand which i bought last summer, it's stopped the attacks on my Rose, and think it looks nice with my planter. 10/10Posted on Ben Marion10 December 2024 Stopslugs worked exactly as intended!Posted on Nadia B7 August 2024 Posted on Micah Lincoln28 July 2024
