Slug Repellent Copper tape

For best results, combine with a slug collar, or a Slugstand, other options are wool tape — copper works harder as part of a layered defence. And we using it with what we call a “primary barrier” not in isolation.

Keep slugs and snails off your plants — without chemicals. This wide 50mm copper tape has a natural repellent effect, helping reduce slug damage to pots, raised beds and borders.

Why 50mm Width Makes the Difference Narrow copper tape is easier to cross than wider tape — many copper tapes are sold at 20mm and 25mm, less than half the width of ours. At 50mm, this tape creates a barrier wide enough that slugs and snails cannot easily stretch across it, and experiments show it has a meaningful repellent effect.

Advantages of Copper Tape One roll protects many plants, making it relatively inexpensive per plant. It also combines well with more robust barriers — Slugstands, slug fences, slug collars and wool repellent tape.

How It Works When slugs or snails try to cross the tape, their slime reacts with the copper, creating an unpleasant sensation that turns them back — no harm done, just redirected.

What’s Included One roll: 10 metres long × 50mm wide, with self-adhesive backing.

Where to Use It

  • Raised beds and vegetable patches
  • Flower pots and containers
  • Greenhouse staging and benches
  • Garden borders and tree guards

Tips for Best Results Apply to a clean, dry surface — preferably on a Slugstand or slug collar. Make sure the tape forms a complete, unbroken ring; any gap is an invitation. Trim any overhanging branches or leaves that could act as a bridge for slugs to bypass the barrier.
